Congregational Life

Our congregation exists to help people come to know and follow Jesus Christ. While part of this is the very personal experience of encountering Jesus and choosing to become his disciple, we also come to know and follow Jesus through our experiences together within the community of faith.

We gather regularly as a faith community, primarily on Sunday mornings as we worship and learn together. These are important gatherings as they provide opportunities to refresh our faith and deepen our understandings of what it means to follow Jesus. We also support one another in our commitments to follow Jesus.

These are also times of caring fellowship. As we share together, we deepen our friendships and find company with others who share our desires to serve Jesus. We pray together for those of our congregation who are in special need and for the needs among our family and friends and others in need around the world. Sometimes in our Sunday gatherings and sometimes in our homes and in hospitals, we offer special prayers for the healing of the sick and hurting among us.

Sharing meals together is an especially enjoyable part of our fellowship. Whether it's a potluck dinner or a restaurant lunch on Sunday, a congregational picnic, or sharing in people's homes, these are great times of enjoying one another's company and sharing good food together.

We are working to develop other sharing and service opportunities. We host a Trunk n Treat event each Halloween season for our neighborhood. It provides a safe trick-or-treating environment for our neighbors’ children. We are also involved with some local and international charitable causes that address the needs of people in our community and in other places around the world.

Jesus’ life had moments of private prayer and comtemplation along side his times of teaching and serving others. He enjoyed sharing a meal with his followers and friends as well as with a variety of other people. He cared deeply about people and the stories about him tell of the numerous times he interrupted what he was doing to show compassion to someone else. We hope that as we share together in the Anaheim Congregation that our individual and congregational lives will increasingly reflect these qualities of Jesus.
