What to Expect When You Visit
Here‘s what to expect on a typical Sunday morning in the Anaheim Congregation.
We have one Sunday morning FUSION service — a blend of worship, learning, and service. Our FUSION service starts at 9:00am and ends at 11:00am.
We do not have classes as such on Sunday morning. Our learning opportunities are included within our FUSION services and are intergenerational — they include learning activities appropriate for children, youth, and adults.
We do not have a dress code. Regular attenders wear anything from casual clothes to suits. Come as you are. We would love to have you join with us in our worship and other activities.
Our FUSION services involve a variety of worship, learning, and service elements. Music is always a part of our gatherings. We love to sing and we have several musicians who provice vocal and instrumental music. We use multimedia and multisensory activities as well in our services. We will usually have one or more scripture readings and a time of teaching and encouragement as we try to grow in our faith and be better followers of Jesus Christ. Sometimes, we also have people share prayers or share their experiences about how Jesus is working in their lives. We involve a number of people in planning and conducting our worship services, including children and youth. Over time, you will see a good portion of the congregation members sharing in some way within our worship services.
We also have voluntary monetary offerings each service which are designed for our regular attenders. As a visitor, please feel no pressure to participate in this. The money that we collect each Sunday partly supports the ministry of our congregation, partly supports the work of the Community of Christ around the world, and partly supports charitable causes that our members have chosen to support as congregational projects.
We have a tradition of volunteer ministry in our church. Our ministers and other church workers do not receive pay for the ministry that they provide. All of them donate their time and energies to create our FUSION experiences and to do the many other things we do as a congregation. We consider it part of our response to Jesus to help support the work of church in whatever ways we can. We believe that everyone has something to share in the life of our congregation and try to find ways of including everyone in meaningful leadership and ministry roles.
